I quickly converted LowerRight to LowerLeft...so now there are two skins available.
Updated to now use the new GetScreenTop() and GetScreenLeft() Metamorphis functions for positioning LowerRight/Left initially.
LowerRight v1.0.5 is HERE.
LowerLeft v1.0.5 is HERE.

This will automatically install the LowerRight/LowerLeft mini-me skin in MJ and make it the current mini-me skin.

You MUST have MJ beta version 8.0.253 or higher installed for this skin to work correctly...it uses the latest, greatest features and options of the Metamorphis skinning engine.

With DWex's approval, I took his original LowerRight skin he posted about 5 weeks ago and enhanced it...dramatically in some places. Check it out and let me (us) know what you think of it!

Great skin! Any chance you could make a LowerLeft version of it? I've always felt that the lower left corner was better because then it doesn't get in the way of the scrollbars.

I have already been thinking about other corners...I want to do it in such a way that I can share the base main.js code and just have different images and .XML files. I think it is doable and that I'll do it in the coming weeks/months. I'll work on LowerLeft first...when I get to it...I actually enjoy doing the skinning work.

For album cover, I think you just need a Track Info visualization that only displays the album cover...I'm not into the Track Info visualizations...maybe someone here could do one for mini-me skins to use.

Hat off to you and dwex. This has the potential to be my favorite thing since the default mini in 7.2. I'd given up on using mini-mes in 8, mostly because there wasn't much mini about the majority of them, until you granted us this one. This should be included in the release, frankly.

I may get it finished up today/tonight and post it!! It's about 90% completed...I just need to test everything thru 20 times and make sure everything is perfectly aligned (LOL).

VERY nice! I'm always on the lookout for mini-mi skins that are less obtrusive and still functional. I can't imagine anything satisfying those requirements much better than this.

Thanks everybody...I love these skins too. I'm all for functional, small footprint skins. Those eye-candy skins do nothing for me...especially when I'm working 12 hours a day on my PC...I just need something there that 'stays out of my way'...LOL.

Yes, you can 'hack' (edit) any graphic and use it for a skin...I use the poor man's graphics tool (Paint Shop Pro...nice product for $70 or whatever it costs these days).

I think in a future version (next week probably) I will combine LowerRight and LowerLeft into one complete skin with a simple Right and Left radio button option...so the user can pick which layout they want (within in just one skin). This will be simple to do (couple hours), I just won't be able to get around to it until later this weekend or next week (sorry). Maybe, the new skin will then be called something like LowerCorners (real creative!).

This is interesting, EQ works in these skins but not even present in mega-me. Same with the skins Doof made. Anyone know why this is?

ZRocker - The lower left version is excellent. Just exactly right for me and the way I organize my desktop. This seems to me the most practical mini-me I've ever seen in terms of it not getting in the way / using a minimum of desktop real estate etc.

Here is another request. Is it possible to make the slide out windows drop down instead of up? The reason I'm asking is when you have 'always on top' selected you can push it into the title bar of say IE or whatever. Most of the time you don't look up at the title bar and it fits perfectly. Then if you wanted to see a playlist or whatever you wanted to see it would drop down instead of popping up into the non viewable part of the screen. Hence, no dragging the skin down to see the screen.

Here is a shot of what I mean.

Guess what I'm trying to say is upper right and / or left.

Hhhmmmm. Interesting bug. I have the lower left version running and I have unchecked Always on top.

When I click on the Start button the full menu appears on top of the mini-me. When I click on Run the Run window appears behind the mini-me.

I know those things happen...they are Metamorphis bugs that I can't code around. I tried to code around all the Metamorphis bugs I could, but those I could not (sorry). LowerRight/Left seems to push Metamorphis to its limits (at times...hahaha).

Here's one for you. On my work machine (XP) LowerLeft displays fine. At home (also XP) there's this odd little glitch happening...

Notice the two toggle buttons (track window & player). They're pointing in the wrong direction! Again, this is only happening at home. I tried deleting the skin and redownloading it, but that didn't work. I even manually flipped the images over using Paint and they STILL display backwards!

This is even weirder... so weird that I can't confirm if it's a bug with the skin or my system.

Fire up either LowerRight or LowerLeft.
Open up the Equalizer.
Right Click on the silvery part of the EQ.
Then Left Click on the black section beneath the EQ.

On my system, this caused the skin to move to some other location on the screen. If I right click on the upper left corner of the silver part of the EQ, then left click on the lower right part of the black area beneath the EQ, the skin actually goes off the screen and I have to delete the state.xml file to get it to come back.

This happens on both LowerRight and LowerLeft. I haven't been able to reproduce this with any other skin. Can somebody else try this and see if it happens for you too?

Excellent skins Z!

Have you tried to get LowerRight working on a multi-monitor setup? I'm trying to get it to the lower right of my right monitor but when I load it MJ just disappears. Also, while the LowerRight skin is loaded, right clicking on the MJ tray icon the cursor displays an hourglass over the menu but everything is still selectable. When I load LowerLeft everything's perfect. Do you think this is bug with Metamorphis or the skin?

One other very minor thing. In the LowerLeft skin, right above the volume slider, the tooltip for the options button says "Options for LowerRight".

In the LowerRight directory, edit main.js and comment out ( with //<< ) these lines in the OnInitialization function:

I had to stick with that logic as the GetScreenWidth and GetScreenHeight functions are useless because they don't return the useable screen area (they return the entire screen area). Sorry.

Also, after the edit, delete the state.xml file and try LowerRight again.

Thanks for the tip Z. The LowerRight works great now. I did also have to un-comment

x = Metamorphis.GetScreenWidth() - Main.Width ;
y = Metamorphis.GetScreenHeight() - Main.Height;

for it to start up in the correct position (lower-right of the right-hand monitor) without the initial state.xml.

I've been playing around with Paint Shop Pro and I can see why you like it. I decided to see if I could change the look of one of your skins. Not that there was anything wrong with them. More of a learning thing. Don't know unless you try I guess. This is what I came up with so far. It's interesting to see what kind of results you get.

As a side note, have you given any thought to upper corner mini skins?

Read the fine print that contradicts the headline before you install this skin. I believed the headline "for MJ8.0.237|PLS|" and screwed up my MJ installation.

I'm assuming the "8.0.253" criteria works if heeded. (I had 8.0.245.)

GREAT JOB!!
Love a nice tiny neat program that stays out the way and is easy to use.

When you're doing top right and top left it might be better to just do top middle and have the track scrollbar sit parallel to the buttons so it can sit on the title bar. Next Page
