Mouse wheel in Theater view
« on: December 10, 2012, 09:46:45 pm »

I have tried several builds of MC 18, including the current 18.0.90 build and the mouse wheel hasn't worked in Theater View on any of them. I see it was fixed in the change history at one point, but perhaps it has quit working again?

It works for me in regular vertically scrolling thumbnail lists.

It doesn't work in horizontally scrolling 3d lists, although maybe it should?

Horizontal used to work and still does. But it stops working sometimes for some reason.
I have not been able to reproduce the reason for it stopping.

It's not working for me in vertical lists at all. I can switch back to MC17 and it works fine there. Anything I can do to help diagnose this?

For me it's working for example in Audio - artist, genre, album, composer but not in showroom, highly relatet, all files.

I use the horizontal roller bar on the Theater View home screen. All the usual roller actions work for me in 18.0.84 but not in 18.0.90 or 18.0.94.

Still not working correctly in 18.0.97.

Do you mean you use the horizontal scroll wheel on the root roller, or the vertical scroll wheel?

The vertical scroll wheel is working on rollers for me.

We're not handling the horizontal scroll wheel, but I didn't think we ever have in Theater View.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but could you be specific about what you mean by "all the usual roller actions"?

Specifically, what hardware buttons are you pressing and what software results are you expecting?

Thanks.

No problem....here is the play by play:

Launch theater view (I use Xplain's Rapier Fusion theme if that makes a difference), anyway get Theater View home screen
Point mouse at horizontal roller bar (in my system this is PLAYING NOW, MOVIES, WEATHER, NEWS ..[snip]..  EXIT)
Use finger to move mouse roller wheel, expected reaction is roller bar of menu items moves right, stop wheeling when mouse points to item I'm interested in lets say NEWS
....[read news], click BACK button on mouse get back to home screen
Use finger to move mouse roller wheel to item I'm interested in lets say PLAYING NOW, click, ...[etc, etc]

On system A, v18.0.9x roller bar doesn't move but did for years with releases prior to 18.0.90   (mouse is wired Logitech G500)
On system B, v18.0.84 roller bar moves horizontally right/left as described above (I reverted from v18.0.90 to v18.0.84 to get behavior back, mouse is Microsoft wireless mouse)

Key take aways are A) home screen roller bar is what I use 98% of the time and the horizontal behavior disappeared in some build 18.0.85 or newer. B) mouse brand (mouse driver?) doesn't matter, and C) re-installing build 18.0.84 brings functionality back.  Note - I am not depressing mouse roller wheel, just rolling it.  Same behavior I would use to scroll text in a browser window.

I'm not sure what's going on.

When I put my mouse cursor over the top of the root roller in Theater View and use the vertical scroll wheel on the mouse, the roller moves as expected.

We've tried two machines, and both work.

Does it help if you first click on Theater View to ensure it has the mouse focus?  Any other ideas?

Certainly the MC window has focus when all of this is going on!!!!  I can recreate the problem at will between the 18.0.84 and the 18.09x releases.  Beyond that I too am uncertain as to the root cause.  How about I trade my two failing systems for your two working systems???

Is there some way to provide logging or trace info?  Could you craft and I install a special debug version to assist you?

This is still a problem here on two different systems.
