Unable to setup tuner
« on: May 07, 2013, 06:16:34 pm »

Since re-installing W7 I have not been able to get the local ABC to show up in WMC. I can add the channel manually but get no epg data for that channel. So I figure it is time to get TV setup in MC. I have followed the instructions but can't get it to work.

Here is the message I get when I try to add channels

The tuner card is a Hauppage 2250
I'm running MC .178

That is the guide that I followed.

MC lists 4 tuners. My card only has 2.

MC lists 4 tuners. My card only has 2.

What if you choose a different tuner to try?  In other words, try each of the four tuners listed.  Having two extra tuners listed may or may not be such a bad thing, but if there is something bad, it probably is related to the driver.  If you can figure out which ones work and which ones do not, you can disable the "bad" ones inside MC.

I have configured all the tuners and tried reordering them. MC lists 2 digital tuners and 2 analog tuners. I am only using OTA and have good signals.

When I re-installed W7 it auto-detected the card and installed drivers. I tried using the drivers available at Hauppage. Nothing changed.

Sorry about the trouble.  I have identified the problem.  Digital TV channel scanning was broken.  It will be fixed for the next release.

And by the way, MC listing 4 tuners for your device should be correct behavior.  I though you meant 4 digital tuners, and thus raised question of whether there is something wrong with the driver.  The device should have two hybrid tuners, meaning two tuners that can be used either as digital tuner or as analog tuner.  When you running channel scanning, you are to select one of the two digital tuners to perform the task.

Thanks, I will try again with the next release. I make so many mistakes that it feels good just knowing that it isn't always my fault.

Lucky for me I fixed my WMC problems.

I just downloaded Ver. 18.0.206.
I can't find any channels on either of my HDHomerun tuners.

The tuners work great with Windows Media Center but I really want to give your software a try.
I have tried multiple scans of both tuners and don't see any channels.

The two most common causes are:

1. Firewall.  Make sure you allow MC traffic in both directions.
2. Configuration in HDHomeRun Setup.  On Application tab, set Main Application to either J River Media Center, or to Other: ATSC/QAM (if you are in ATSC land).

It was the Windows firewall settings.
I added J River to the list of allowed programs and I can see the channels now.
