Loving the scaling fix!  I dealt with it because this was my favorite so far, but the fix is just absolutely fantastic!  Thank you!

On Kubuntu and other Linux distros there are no buttons for closing, minimizing, or maximizing JRiver while the stock skins have these buttons.

This is true, that's why I still use pre-dark Due edition versions of the skin with multi-OS support, including Linux.

Funny note: I use Gnome on all my linux boxes, so I'd never noticed the lack of window controls.  I just assumed the skin was working as intended with the DE   :)

Do you get buttons with Black on Black?

I've been debating with myself for awhile on whether or not I should release these. Anyways, I still use the pre-scaling support 2014 version of the Modern Cards skins, which I've modified myself for different Linux distro themes. If you don't mind the lack of scaling support but want MC skins which feel more *nix look and feel, well these should be for you!

Some notes about these skins:

  • These, obviously, lack scaling support. I don't really have interest in updating the resources for scaling support at this time (also I don't use a high DPI!).
  • There's no custom art/resources/webpages included, as I prefer the vanilla MC look. ;) If you want the custom data, find the 2014 skin pack and grab it from there.
  • As of right now only Adwaita (aka the default GNOME theme), Cinnamon's Mint-X and the GNOME 3.20 version of Arc Theme available in both light and dark! I might do more as time permits.
  • The Arc Theme, which by the way is an amazing theme, works best on GNOME 3.20. Earlier GNOME versions likely have the minimize/maximize/restore/close button placement different. I *may* do skins with the button adjustments for 3.16 or 3.18 at some point, I'm not sure.
  • There is a buttonless version of the Modern Cards Duo Ubuntu skin. Personally, when I have the window maximized, I don't want to see minimize/maximize/restore/close buttons. ;)
  • They DO however support Windows and Mac, in addition to Linux... except the buttonless Ubuntu skin.
  • There hasn't been too many modifications to main skin resources, but I do want to make some at some point in the future.
  • There's likely skinning issues I haven't noticed. I may or may not fix them, time permitting!

How to install:

Drag and drop everything from the .zip file into the ~/.jriver/Media Center 21/Skins/Standard View folder. You'll likely have to go to the Home directory, enable hidden folders (CTRL+H) and go from there.

Enjoy!

P.S. I thought about just completely forking these under another name, but decided against it unless Dirhael has no problem with it. Of course he'd be credited regardless. ;)

EDIT: Slight updated, added a light version of the Arc Theme. ;)

Now, some modified Mac OS X/macOS-esk type of modified skins.

Some notes about these skins:

  • These, obviously, lack scaling and retina support. I don't really have interest in updating the resources for scaling support at this time (also I don't use high DPI!).
  • There's no custom art/resources/webpages included, as I prefer the vanilla MC look. ;) If you want the custom data, find the 2014 skin pack and grab it from there.
  • There hasn't been too many modifications to main skin resources, but I do want to make some at some point in the future.
  • The main updates is to the red/yellow/green spotlight buttons for close/maximize/restore/minimize - they're 1:1 perfect.
  • There's likely skinning issues I haven't noticed. I may or may not fix them, time permitting!

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/wwyoua2ho00zb90/ModernCardsMacSkins.zip

How to install:

Right click on the Finder icon on the dock, then select Go to Folder... and input ~/Library then press the blue Go button. From there go into the Application Support folder, then the J River folder, then choose the Media Center folder you’re using (Media Center 21 for MC 21, Media Center 22 folder for MC 22, etc.) then go into the Skins folder then the Standard View folder. Finally drag the contents (the three skins folders) inside ModernCardsMacSkins.zip into the Standard View folder. Once they’re there, open Media Center, go to the View menu then select Skin and choose one of the Modern Cards Mac skins!

Enjoy!

It is valid for Mac 22 version?

Yes. It works fine in both MC 22 and on the Mac. Even Retina Mode seems to work too.

As some of you may have noticed, Modern Cards have now been included with the default installation of Media Center, both the dark edition and a couple of the versions modified by Awesome Donkey :) I haven't had time to work as much with the skins as I'd like lately, but I do have a fully working light version (previously known as the "duo" edition) with retina assets. I haven't posted it here yet, but if you want to grab a copy you can find it over at GitHub using the links at the end of this post.

In the process of making it available for JRiver to include with Media Center, I've made both the dark and light editions of the skin available as open-source (under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license) over on GitHub. This includes both the original Photoshop *.psd's, Illustrator *.ai's and more. Hopefully this should make it easier for anyone who wants to make their own modifications and such.

You can file the git repo's here:

Light version: https://github.com/oyvindas/ModernCardsLight
Dark version: https://github.com/oyvindas/ModernCardsDark

Have fun! :)

Found some time to start making a new edition of my skin again, this time with a little more color. I wanted something that match the blue color scheme in Windows 10. I'm not done yet, but I'll try completing it within the next few weeks if there's interest in me releasing it?
