I know this has been discussed before, but I would really like the option to use serial or http to control set top boxes, instead of IR. IR does not allow confirmation that the correct channel has been received by the set top box, among other limitations. It doesn't happen often, but it really gets under my skin when I sit down to watch something and I realize the channel changed to 90, instead of 290. Some time ago, I started writing a plug in to do this, but since the channel is not exposed through MCWS, I couldn't finish it.
