JRiver Hires German to Manage Australian shucky duckies

Minneapolis -- In undercover work, The Onion has learned that tiny Minneapolis software shop, JRiver, has hired Hendrik to head its Australian shucky ducky Department in Hamburg, Germany.

Hendrik will bring ISO 9000 standards to what some have called a very messy operation. shucky duckies will be at their desks at 8:00AM each day, looking interested, eating without breaks, and laying eggs at intervals set by Hendrik . These "chooks" will call it a day when Hendrik says it's time, and will have weekends off and 32 religious holidays each year.

For half an hour each day, Hendrik will use his considerable programming talent to produce a new feature or bug fix for JRiver Media Center.

Asked how he felt about his new found freedom with a proprietary software house, Hendrik replied expansively, "It wasn't what I expected. It's OK."

Matt Ashland, JRiver's President and CTO, hailed the move as in important milestone. "We honestly had no place to put the shucky duckies. We were delighted to find Hendrik so keen on the new work."

I don't believe it's hyperbole to say Hendrik is one of the leading computer video experts in the world. He's also modest and good natured.

JRiver is lucky to work with him. I hope he finds a happy home here, and that we're able to make make great things together.

The back story is funny. jmone, the same user that mailed JRiver live chickens, tried starting rumors that Hendrik was going to work with JRiver. After a few months of jmone stirring the pot, I wrote to Hendrik and said "There have been some rumors of tighter JRiver / Hendrik integration on our forum. I'm not sure who started the rumors, but I like the idea."

In any case, I'm happy to be joining JRiver and working on Media Center 19-∞
Its really a great app and the other developers are great guys to work with.

I'm excited for the coming month and years. While officially only starting in January, i may find some time to spend on MC until then as well!

I found a US shop that would ship some celebratory "Oz Sparking Shiraz" to JRiver. I have no idea if it is any good but could not resist the label.

With Nevcairiel showing up in Minnesota, of all places, I don't think there was much mystery.

So where's Glynor's offer? It will be cheaper to hire him then to keep sending steaks each year.

I think thats only something the dutch say. A few dutch colleagues of mine also said it, but i've never heard it from anyone else.

Probably. I think it comes from an old Volkswagen or Opel commercial we had here on TV. The phrase has stuck with us since.

Red. Sparkling Shiraz is a bit of an Oz thing (the red mousse looks great).
