Rotten Tomatoes API broken?
« on: November 16, 2013, 02:06:14 pm »

I'd like to know if this is working for anyone else -

sometime in the last day or two GET MOVIE & TV INFO no longer retrieves search hits from Rotten Tomatoes (EG it shows a hit but when you click there are "no results to display")

Am I the only one?

I noticed that today myself.  Not sure when it started.

There's a limit for how much we can use Rotten Tomatoes API each day.  We occasionally go over, especially during busy times like right after a mailing.

FYI - I've been able to retrieve info from Rotten Tomatoes once in about 20 tries over 3 days.

I spoke with Rotten Tomatoes today.

They've asked us to make a few small changes in how we present Rotten Tomatoes data, and in return they bumped our usage limit up.

I looked them up today and they're the #657 most visited site on the Internet!

I guess this isn't that surprising, because I almost always lookup a movie on Rotten Tomatoes before I watch it.

Anyway, thanks to Rotten Tomatoes for helping us out.

It's very important imo, that the thresholds for data usage for such services are never out of bounds. Or at least a VERY few times a year. Because if we can't trust the data being reliable, much of the automagic is broken. I hope it's much better now, because I've seen quite a few items in my library not getting meta data over the last months.
