Meridian Explorer 192 output
« on: February 25, 2014, 01:19:15 pm »

My setup is Macbook Pro, JRiver 19 for MAC and a Meridian Explorer. My issue is that JRiver downsamples 192Hz/24bit files automatically to 96Hz/24bit. The Meridian Explorer is capable of handling 192. In my system settings on MAC I configure the meridian explorer as 192Hz. But it automatically downsamples to 96K. What do I do wrong in the settings?

It may be able to handle the input but according to this page https://www.meridian-audio.com/en/collections/products/explorer-1000/4/specification/ it down samples 192 kHz or 176.4 kHz to 96 kHz or 88.2 kHz when outputting audio through S/PDIF.

The issue is not with S/PDIF. When I use the VLC Player 192 native files are played as 192 (three lights are on on the Meridian Explorer. When I use the JRiver MC19 the sound is downsampled to 96 (and thus only two lights are on the Meridian Explorer). The issue is clearly with JRiver

In DSP studio there is an output section in that section there is a subsection called sample rate. Have you set all desired input sample rates to output at 192,000 Hz? If not that could be your problem as if I remember correctly by default JRiver has these capped at 96,000 Hz.

Thanks. That solved the problem. Default setting of JRiver is to downsample 192 to 96. I was not clear to me you could change that. But now I did and it works perfectly
