3 Questions:

- Do you have Media Network setup?
- Do you have an Access Key to configure Gizmo?
- Does it work on your local network (wireless at home)?

Is something else (another PC or something) able to connect to your Server using that access key?

I think it should work.

Try connecting with Gizmo on ip address and port 52199 instead of using the access key.

First, make sure internet is working and that you're connected to your local wifi network (for now we don't want to connect via your mobile provider). If you need that too, we'll tackle that next. First, we need it to work via local network, wifi.

You connect to webgizmo with a browser, right. In the address bar you use a hostname or ip address, like so:

Code: [Select]
http://hostname:52199/
or, with an ip address, like so:

Code: [Select]
http://192.168.0.10:52199/
These are just examples, hostname or the numerical notation 192.168.0.10 will be different in your case. They will be from your library server. Again, this will be in the address bar in your browser when you connect to webgizmo.

When you open Gizmo, tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner. Choose Mode.

Choose New Server ...
type in the address from webgizmo, without the 'http://' and no trailing '/'. It would look like this:

Code: [Select]
hostname:52199
or

Code: [Select]
192.168.0.10:52199
Tap 'Go'.

This should work if webgizmo works from the same device.

And to be clear, playing audio and video works from webgizmo on that same device?

How long ago did you make these changes?

Maybe its wisest to just restore a backup on your library server.

Hi maid,

I had to open up a port on the firewall on my PC for it to work.  I use Comodo and it can be a little over-zealous at times.

What firewall are you using on your computer?  Try adding 'Media Center 19.exe' as a trusted application to the firewall.

An easy way to check whether MC can 'get out' is to run the following test:

Tools > Options > Media Network > Left-click on 'Access Key: xxxxxx' > 'Test Connection To This Server'

If it's successful, the issue lies elsewhere.  If it's not, you know why you can't connect to it (it's because it can't connect to JRiver).

In order to use the access key, MC must be able to 'call home' to JRiver to point Gizmo to your MC.

I really do think this is a simple firewall issue from how you've described things.

I have the exact same problem on the exact same phone. I had a Samsung S3 before and on that Gizmo worked like clockwork. I have not changed anything on the server, I just switched phones and downloaded the app.
I can access the server via wifi only, outside the network it simply does not connect. I can control the server but I can't listen to anything on the phone, when I try it just says preparing indefinitely.
The really weird thing is that whatever I try to play gets cached onto the phone and I can play it in poweramp. I've tried setting the phone to not cache anything but it still doesn't work.

I looked again and I had not turned off caching of tracks completely. I did now and that got it working.

I still can't connect via 3g even though the exact same settings worked for my S3.

FWIW I have a Xperia Z1 working with Gizmo through WiFi and 3G without a problem though I had to manually battle my way through the Windows Firewall and network adapter configuration to get it working, but leastwise from my experience it can be done. btw My Cache download ahead is set for 10 tracks.
However it is still not possible to sync the Xperia Z1 as a handheld, although that would appear to be a very dodgy issue with MC and, I suspect, any Android device running ver 4.x.x judging from the unresolved woes expressed in this forum.
