Some FLAC files will not import
« on: May 03, 2014, 09:10:48 am »

Can't fire out why some of my FLAC files refuse to be imported.
For example, I have the Beatles remaster files in FLAC. All of them imported except Rubber Soul. There are other instances as well.
Anyone know why and what I can do to fix it?

Maybe the file is corrupt?

Have you tested it? Maybe try play it with another program?

No,
The stubborn files are fine and play elsewhere.

Does MediaCenter actually tell you the files are not being imported in the details? Sometimes people think they are not being imported because they can't find them.

In the import dialog, at the options, did you perhaps tick 'do not import previously removed files'?

Yes, it says "0" new files were imported.

I unchecked 'do not import previously removed files', still did not work.

Create a Smartlist, hit the Import / Export button and enter exactly:

  ~d=a

and OK out.  Select that Smartlist and use Search, entering part of the file path for files that seem to be missing, such as:

   M:\music\path\to\missing

Do you see the files?

Remember you're talking to Mac users here :-)
I entered that stuff, but there is no place I can find where I can enter a path.
It will find the .aiff version of this album, but not the FLAC.

Hang on, I see them now. How do I get it to import?

Sorry, wrong path format.  In the Search box, upper right of the program.  Type something like:

   /Users/toddr/music/...

I don't know what your music path is, so you'll have to use the correct path.  Or you can use something like:

   location=pink floyd

to have the filename field search for the term 'pink floyd' - this might show all your albums under the 'pink floyd' folder.

Search also has a Wizard mode, which might be easier for you to learn from.  Click the little triangle in the Search box.

You're welcome.

Did you find the files?  If so, were they "missing" because they were incorrectly tagged, and hence not obvious to you where they were in MC's views?
