JRiver hanging on streaming to devices
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:32:11 pm »

Hi
I'm getting frequent hanging and audio error streaming to Revo K2 device on wifi and using jremote to apple devices,  i then go and have a look at the server and it has the attached error on screen.
im using the latest version of jriver, and have stopped my AV (sophos) from scanning the audio areas as well as jriiver folder.

Cheers

Try playing directly to the device, without JRemote.

If it is an antivirus problem, you may need to uninstall to confirm.

Still getting the issue,
its when trying to stream to upnp (revo K2) unit hangs JRiver, then have to restart the server to fix.
i have logging switched on attached the very latest part of the file as the original is over 140mb, i previously said it was the latest version, it wasn't but i have since updsated and still have the same issue.

could do with this sorting

anyone???

obvously i have paid for 2 apps jriver and jremote. i understand the guy who does jremote now works for jriver, any ideas on fixing this as i want to progress on getting my home audio/video installed and am now wondering if jriver is the best option, I'm do IT for a job so know my way around a PC but i cant make head or tail about the logs, also if the PC is restarted it hangs on a restarting requires a physical power off by removing the plug. not very WAF friendly as the unit is in the loft.

In your OP you show a dialog box screen shot which actually tells you two possible causes of the problem and how to fix it (items 1 & 2), so did you actually try that?

How are you starting it as a service?

Did you try both of these?

Hi Jim

i can play direct, but if using the jremote, i have 3 devices with it on it will stop responding at some point the, currently im at work and cannot play to my iphone over the internet, but i can play to speakers direct attached to the jriver server at home (wife confirmed)
i have checked all our firewalls for dropped packets i cant see any issue.
it does not hang my server playing direct, i know if i try to use the revo at this point the server will lock up, (if it cant transcode to my phone) and kick everything off, is there anything in the logs?

on the AV front i removed sophos and it had no effect. i have since re installed it.

Greetings:
After installing the latest version of MC, I got the same message. But before the error, I tried to use Gizmo, not knowing this error was buried within other windows.  My Gizmo on my Galaxy Note 3 would not even fire up. I had to uninstall and re-install Gizmo.  I then, through the task manager, ended MC and restarted the PC. All has been fine since then.

I do not know if this has anything to do with the issues you are experiencing.
George.

Are you using JRemote or only MC?

239.255.255.250 is a multicast address for SSDP (Simple Service Discovery Protocol), used for discovering and announcing DLNA devices on the network.

AvMan,
I am subscribing to this thread, because I have reported similar issues with no permanent resolution weeks ago. Itgot so frustrating that I put my large music library on two 2TB usb drives and just plugged those into my OPPO 105.

For your reference (not to hijack your thread), I run JRiver on my win 8 PC (core i7 machine with 12 GB ram), via wifi to a wifi repeater in my listening room, which is wired into my OPPO 105.
I use JRemote on my Ipad. Sometimes I can listen to 90 seconds to 3 minutes before it locks up. Sometimes it runs hassle-free for 30 minutes.
I test Wifi speed all the time in my listening room. It never drops below 21-23 Mbps.
I will follow this thread with hope and anticipation :)

No problem glad it's just not me I was thinking the hardware was at fault
FYI I now have the k2 on a wire same fault

I have just updated to the latest version
During the install it said that jriver was running. It had just locked up. The installer could not close jriver it suggested. A redstart. The pc hangs on restart and requires a power cord removal

Installing jriver then brought up a incorrect shutdown it installed and will see how it goes

You do know that this is actually not very much?

Hi res audio alone can need up to 10Mbps, and hi res video up to 50Mbps or even more. And if your files are on a Nas and Mc is on a Pc and streaming to a third network device, you need to double those numbers. Not to mention network overhead, other users, dropouts, and general chatter..

By contrast if you use a modern wired Ethernet connection you can get 1Gbp (1000Mbps) ..

mine is hanging transcoding to 320 MP3 on  wire. JRiver locks up and the pc has to have the power cable removed  to reset it.
