A Nordmende Tannhauser 57 3D.

I did a cleanup, recap and replaced the "Magic Eye" tuning tube on it. The FM with built in antenna sounds great, and the tuning dial is dead on the numbers. 4 speakers including a 7x10 woofer and an electrostatic tweeter in front, with a midrange on each side angled slightly to the front. Separate Bass and Treble controls, Loudness switch and preset equalization buttons. With Phono and Tape inputs (that work) I will be able to push some oldies to it...

Thanks!! It was nice to find a untouched radio. I am really enjoying it. It is nicely engineered. The AM antenna inside can rotate 360 degrees by moving the back ring of the front tuning dial. This will point the antenna in the right position for the AM station. There is also a tray on the bottom of the unit that slides out giving the user full access to the bottom o the chassis.

Very fond of Old time radio, and Old radios in general.

I fixed many of them with my dad growing up.

He fixed military radios in the Air Force for the first 10 years, and then converted to Computers, and radar In the early 60's

We would go to the dump and pick up junked radios, and TV's, then take them home and fix them.

A lot of quality time with my father.

I remember sorting resistors for my father while he built heathkit projects, and watching intensely as he soldered components. As soon as I was able to earn money I would buy parts to build all kinds of things from Radio Electronic magazines and such, about 50% of them would work...

I remeber the clerk at the electronics supply store (RS) would look at me and wonder what I was doing with these parts.... He knew nothing about the stuff the store sold..

I remember one question my dad asked me.

Q. You go to the electronics store and buy a box of 100 resisters, and you bring them home and test them on a multi-meter, and all had a short.

What's Wrong with them?

A. Nothing, All would show a short if they were good, the only thing is to measure is the resistance of the short.

I spent hours testing resisters, diodes, and capacitors.

When I was in the army, and working at 782nd maint at fort Bragg, 82nd Airborne Div., I would rebuild Voltage regulators for generators (Not because I had to, Because I could).

It is nice to see when people restore old radios, that have great wood workmanship (before plastic).
