Is it possible to . . .
I have been looking for a long time now to find a solution for my problem, but to date have not been able to.
What I want to do is the following:
I have got around heaps of MP4 music video clips. I have got these on my Laptop, running Windows XP sp3.
I want to play my video clips in random order. As my TV is connected to my surround system, the wireless transmission need to include the audio signal.
I have tried many programs, from iTunes, Windows Media Player 11, RealPlayer, XBMC, VLC and JRiver Media Centre.
Original I started with iTunes (which I do not like) and bought Apple TV. Yes, it worked and I could run my music video's wireless, playing randomly and using playlists and smartlists. But, not always working having to use iTunes was a set back.
I also connected my PC to the TV using a HDMI cable. Using VLC, I was able to play video and audio to the TV. But not wireless and multiple playlists and smartlists are not available.
Other players did not want to transfer sound over the cable.
So I bought ChromeCast, as I was told that would work without a problem, streaming what I see on my PC screen to TV.
Streaming from e.g. YouTube works, I can even see my screen on TV, but no sound. Reading many articles on the Internet, it seems that there is no support for Windows XP and streaming videos . . . Again a dead end road?
So now I am trying MediaCenter V20 for 30 days. Video clips play well and I can make smart playlists. Nice.
I connected to Chromecast (to see my screen on TV) playing my video clips. Sound is missing. Just comes from my laptop speakers, not the TV surround.
Is there is anybody who can help me find just a simple solution. I just want to play playlists with mp4 music video clips on my TV using the surround sound. Anybody?
Thanks, Gerard
