realtime DSD to PCM conversion distortion

Getting distortion with PCM to DSD real time converter, It is too hot. Turning down JRiver 'internal volume' by 4dB solves this distortion. I've tested this with a 0dBfs PCM sine wave file. Bitstream DSD files playback is perfect, no distortion.
