Problem with get movie and tv info
« on: October 15, 2014, 10:51:43 am »

Loading original Doctor Who.
Was working fine all of a sudden stopped returning information.
If I retry one that did work it no longer returns values.
Still working for other series or films.
If I log in from a client and run it it returns values.

Running .21
Have uninstalled and reinstalled.
Comparing logs from both using WinMerge they appear to be the same except that one returns values.

Looking for things to try

I think there is a maximum allowed number of "data requests" for that service and JRiver sometimes hits the max for the day. If this is the case you will need to try again tomorrow.

I have no problems with other requests.
I just re-installed 19 and it works fine.
Something is corrupted in my installation of 20 that only seems to affect me getting original Doctor Who info.

Did it stop getting info in the middle of season 8?

I was halfway through season 2.
At this point it won't even retrieve info I already have.

Try choosing just one episode you don't have info for and doing get tv and movie info. Doctor Who is a tricky show to figure out because of the reboot in 2005, and all sorts of different naming conventions. When you choose a single episode look at what the TVDB is using as input and its suggested outputs. Pick one that woks for the episode you selected if you get the choice.

If that worked, pick two further episodes and try the get info thing again. This time it should be automatic, and the info should be consistent with the single episode you picked earlier. If this step works, you should be able to select the whole bunch and try again. Now TVDB and MC will know exactly which series ID to use for your files.

I have done that. I cannot get it to retrieve anything.
If I compare the log on the client where it works to the log on the server where it does not the requests to TVDB are the same.
I've attached the logs if you want to have a look. I use winmerge to compare the text files and I don't see a difference.

I realize the old doctor who is messed up on TVDB but if on my end it works on multiple installations including a version 19 then I think the problem is with my installation.
11-28 works, 11-30 does not.

I'm just looking for some way to fix my installation.
I uninstalled and reinstalled.
I didn't delete the library, should I have?
I don't have any custom views or fields. This installation is used for import and tagging.
I assume therefore that I could just re-import everything and I would get all my data back.
My HTPC imports from a finished library

Sorry, I'm not savvy enough to look at logs, even my own. However, one last suggestion in MC20. Choose a Doctor Who video, locate it on the disk. Now delete the sidecar file and try to get the info for that video again. Just for laughs, although I don't think it's related, check to make sure that the folder the video is in is not marked as read-only.
