Atmos?
« on: November 29, 2014, 07:55:08 am »

I'm really curious if we're ever gonna get a software decoder for Atmos. By manually installing the newest LAV I can view films with a retail atmos track however, its just discarding whatever information is in the atmos specific part. I know this isn't part of JRiver development process and up to third party devs but I mean, JRiver developers probably have some more insight into the feasibility or if anyone is working on it.

Im working on getting the ceiling speakers in and some extra amplification for them so like it would be cool as heck to actually be able to watch a film in Atmos. I just really require JRiver DSP for things like biamplification hence why a software decoder is necessary.

Check out this thread:  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=91492.0

Hendrik in that thread is the author of the LAV filters (aka nevcariel), and last I heard his outlook on atmos support is not optimistic (basically it depends on Dolby being willing to play ball in the PC market).
