Newer Folder.jpg not showing in music preview
« on: December 07, 2014, 02:49:31 pm »

Hello,

I have approx. 3000 Cds in my library , all of them having a Folder.jpg or folder.jpg stored in the same directory where the music resides.

Now, for around newer 20-30 albums (mostly with high resolution Folder.jpgs) the images are not shown in the preview.

The jpgs are all okay, and are shown in the explorer like all other jpg.

I have no idea what is the reason for that.  ?

Please be so kind to help me out.
Thanks.

Oddly enough, files with the extension .jpeg rather than .jpg seem to have that issue. But if I were you, I would make sure that the files aren't corrupted, and that they are embedded in the artwork. You can do this by right clicking on the album in JRM, and then going down to Covert Art // Quick Find in File or Directory.

Files end on .jpg and not .jpeg, so that is okay and works for 99% of all other Folder.jpg I have residing in the CD folders.

For 99% of my NEW albums which I copy from my ripping machine to my repository JRM automatically find the Folder.jpg !

For 1% of Folder.jpg JRM does not automatically show the thumbnails of my newly added albums.

I have to MANUALLY go to the acutal folder and click on Folder.jpg. Then the thumbnail is shown. This sucks.

Using JRM 18!

...and to add:

For large jpg files *such as* 1493x1493 in pixels with file size 2,13 MB the thumbnail would not show *at all*!

Why is that?  ?

Please advise! Thanks.

Maybe someone of the support team would be so kind to comment on this?

BTW : jpgs are working flawlessly with Windows view, irfanview and other software on different platforms

There is no size limit that I know about.

What happens if you rename Folder.jpg to folder.jpg?

Are the files stored on a local drive?  Or a network drive?

Happy new year.

Good to know that there are no file size limitations.  :D

The files reside on two local hard drive only; no network drive attached. The center is configured such as to search for music in the main directories of these two drives each.   The cover art is named "Folder.jpg" (all of them in separate subdirectories). New music being copied to these drives is found immediately and shown under new albums.

However, as I said, for a few new albums, the cover art is not showing up.

I will check if folder.jpg makes any difference. Also, I will check if one of my two conversion tools is making any difference. One is Irfanview, the other is photozoom pro. Then I will post the results here.

I find for some files for some reason their tags are messed up.

I do this:

Select required files.
Right-click and "Cover Art" - "Remove Cover Art"
Answer No (you do not want to delete the cover art, just remove it from the tags).
Right-Click and "Cover Art" - "Quick Find in File / Cover Art Directory"
Give it a few secs to build thumbnail...

This seems to work 100% of the time for me.
