Aspect ratio detection
« on: December 14, 2014, 09:16:55 am »

How does MC handle aspect ratio detection?

I am running 20.48 and trying to play back 4x3 television shows that have been converted to MKV files from DVD.
My display is 16x9 and the behavior seems to be random.
Half the time I get a stretched picture and have to change the mode on my projector.
The rest of the time the picture is scaled automatically to 4x3 without any adjustment.

Is there some setting I can change to help force the automatic scaling?

I have a few more details.

I started in Display mode and the first file is stretched.
When I start subsequent files they are not stretched and I need to restore my projector to 16x9.
If I place the system in standby, the next file is stretched again.

This issue may be related to the file info for individual episodes.
Disk 3 is consistently showing episodes in 4x3 format.

I went back to the pilot episode on disk 1 and it shifted to stretch mode.
