License, where is it ?
« on: January 27, 2015, 09:28:42 pm »

Hello, I understand you cannot have people calling on every little question, but I am looking for my license, so where do I go ?

I bought the software on Sunday from Acoustic Sounds, but never got the license. They tell me that it really comes from you, and I should call you. But alas, no phone number found ?

So what do I do ? PS: I did not use PayPal.

Thanks,

Wayne

...hmmm

i don't work here, but perhaps check your junk email?

The 3 reviews (all on the same date, stating the exact same thing) seems fishy to me.

Learn more and download the trial version (good for 30 days) here:  DOWNLOAD

Once downloaded, the trial version must be activated with the license purchased from here. Once purchased, the code will be emailed within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Also i dont understand why they send you to JRiver to download trial, but yet tell you to come back to them to purchase, when you can just purchase from within program, or online.. in fact upon opening jriver on every Trial, it brings up a dialog telling you how many days are left in trial, and asking if you'd like to purchase, if one clicks purchase it brings you straight to Jrivers purchase page.

Thanks for writing. The version I ended up with is the 20.0.62  . JRiver and Acoustic Sounds work together on the Acoustic Sounds HiRez downloader program, so they offer the software as a courtesy , and also as part of their introduction to downloading from them. So I know it is all legit, but still I never got my license, so thus this question. Checked junk mail, thanks for the tip.

If you purchased MC from Acoustic Sounds, they should have provided you a license and you would have needed to restore it.

Here's approximately what they would have said:

http://jriver.com/licenseletter.html

But maybe they are just providing you the trial version.

I paid them on their site. Their link for the trial version( or whatever it is) was not working, so I got it from your site, 20.0.62   .  Their exact words was the license will be sent by you with in 24 hours, and was surprised it did not come yet ? Now what, call them again ?

Ok, after a few calls, I got a registration code. I put it in and it says it is registered to me.

So I guess that is all I will ever need ?

Yep.  You're golden.

When you did that, JRiver will have emailed you a MJR file.  If you have other copies of Windows on other computers, you can copy this MJR file over to them and use it to license additional copies of MC.  You're allowed to use a single license of MC on all of the computers of a particular platform (Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux licenses are separate if you don't have a Master License) that you own personally (within reason).  Obviously if you're using it for a business the separate physical users need their own licenses, but for a regular "home user" with a server, HTPC, and laptop or whatever, you're cool with one.  The MJR files "last" for 14 days, after which they expire.  But, you can make a new one if needed via the same mechanism you used to get this one going.

What you did, to add a license to that original copy of MC (where you got the MJR file emailed to you) is called a "Restore".  You're automatically allowed 10 of these per year (rolling, not calendar), though if you ever run out, you can just tell us here, and someone from JRiver will come along and fix it, assuming you're not up to no good.
