JRiver Hangs [solved]
« on: February 05, 2015, 05:15:40 am »

Hello,

I have JRiver setup on a PC running Windows Server 2012 (call this the Player PC).
The music source for the main library is configured to use a Server in another room.

Using RDP from my Laptop to the Player PC, I am able to see all the Albums etc. However, when I play a track, it plays through my Laptop. When I select ASIO on Media Center it hangs and then has to be shutdown through Task Manager.

Can anyone help me on how to get this to output through USB to my DAC?
Should I setup JRiver on my server? How should I configure it?

You've got a few extra factors there that may be causing the problem.

Windows Server 2012 isn't recommended.  Win7 or Win8 is.

RDP

But try WASAPI or DirectSound.

Are you using any special audio "tweaks"?

You can use "Tremote" (on our wiki) to use one machine as the controller for another.

Hi,

No audio tweaks as such. I'm trying to use Server 2012 as I understand that it's the best from a Sound Quality point of view.
I use a HiFace EVO USB to Digital Converter and need to use their driver as an output.
I will try WASAPI as suggested.

Also, should I install JRiver on my server and configure it as a Library server rather than having JRiver on the player PC read from the server using a network share?

Will also check out Tremote.

Thanks.

That's audiophile myth.

Check them for advice and driver updates.

Either will work.

The problem appears to be after JRiver.  Driver or beyond.
