This useful option is not working in MC 20.0.70.
I usually used it to correct the tags of my VIDEOS. (I know that Videos doesn't have tags, but in MC it always have existed)
it's supposed to show the tags of the selected files in the order that are displayed.
I use to correct some info like genre and comment, for instance, I have done this since the first version of MC, now in this version, no idea what is really displaying.
As are VIDEO is showing just little info. I attach a picture of what is showing with 'Show Tags In Current View' selected

There was a bug that caused these to get messed up in an earlier version of MC20.  You can fix it, but you need to add a column to the View in question (which can then subsequently be removed).  Note that if you're using a Category Details style View, then you have to do this on the file listing.  See:
