Can't access playlists via DLNA
« on: February 24, 2015, 05:00:34 am »

In JRiver, I have a folder with audio files which I can access with no problems from my TV via DLNA.

However I can't access playlists in JRiver - I can only choose between these:

Artist
Album
Recent
Genre
Composer
Podcast
Highly Rated

Is there a way to specify in JRiver that you want people to have access to playlists also via DLNA?

Best,
Henrik

Presently you are using your TV to "pull" the tracks from MC. In this mode the user interface is not very flexible.

I suggest that instead you explore using MC to "push" tracks to your TV. That will give you the benefit of all of MC's nice user interface with customized vies, playlists etc.

Thanks, Andrew :)

Yes, but then I will need a remote control for JRiver.
I have seen it is indeed possible to get remotes for the program, but won't you need to point the remote at your computer then in order to control JRiver?
I mean, just as you have to point the remote at the TV to control the TV.

Sorry for asking such a basic question!

EDIT:
Btw. I don't have a smartphone, so I can't remote control JRiver that way

In most DLNA players the playlists are available as a separate top level category, have you checked there?

If it's not there you could also try adding the playlists to the Audio View under the DLNA server Customize Views. It may or may not work since Playlists in DLNA are treated specially.
