There are multiple remotes you can use, I personally use EOS (here is the trial of that

As far as JRemote goes the only information they have released that i've seen is
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=96012.new;topicseen#new However, i wouldn't wait around for it they emailed all of us informing us of a few day release date, but then must have ran into problems again so they corrected themselves and said it would be a few days with a definition of a few days being more then 1 less then a million so if ya have 2737 years to wait around... yes, that is another alternative.

Setting them up on your devices will be a little different depending on the app you chose.. Gizmo and EOS make it easy for you the first time you open the app, by asking you for your access key, and authentication (if you set it up on JRiver server).
Couple things to maybe save you some frustration.
*don't forget to setup/test your ports from within Media network. tools/options/media network/then click on Access key, this will allow you to test your ports. assuring your android apps can access the server.
* when they mention to setup authentication i highly suggest you read through the post below i posted about the dangers of using authentication if you are not savvy with setting up windows shares, and are concerned with accidental deletion of your files. (I was a bit Raz'd up when writing it...it's a bit long winded but important to know) -
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=95099.0 If you will only be using android apps (cellphone/tablets) not (PC's/Clients) then the post will not pertain to you (it may though with jremote.. ive never used it, so im not sure if JRemote allows for deleting of files from within it's app).
*once you decide which droid app you are going to use and have followed the steps above, You then can goto the jriver server... tools/options/Media Network, and click on advanced/Customize views for gizmo & webgizmo... this will allow you to setup your views the way you wish... those views will then be sent to the android app you have chosen once connected... The setting up views is similar to theaterview views, if you've set those up before.
