Appdata Temp File huge
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:32:39 pm »

JRiver:

I was looking at my PC Drives, and noticed that the C: Drive was nearly full.  An SSD.
So - in digging - the offending directory was:
/Users/Appdata/Roaming/J River/MediaCenter 20/Temp
It had over 200,000 files in it - all pictures.

Please dont tell me its not safe to delete the files - because I did - figuring the "temp" name on the directory gives one the right to delete the contents without great harm.

MC 20 didnt seem to notice they were gone.  Any insights?

That folder should be cleared each time MC starts up. Do you perhaps have any permissions issues on that disk?

Yes, the folder should definitely be cleared each startup:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 20

I'm replying to this old thread because I'm having a similar issue.  Noticed my C drive was filling up and digging further found that nearly 8 GB was from MC 19 and MC 20.  This seems especially odd to me because I installed MC, like all my programs, on the D drive.  C is only for Windows.  Why is JRiver collecting such a huge amount of files, and why is it doing anything at all to my C drive, I'd just prefer it remain where I put it and not bloat up my OS drive.

Out of interest I checked this directory on my PC and it isn't being cleared on starting MC20 either.

Maybe some "security" software is preventing MC from doing its job.

I checked my folder.  It has 290K of files.

"C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 20" obviously shouldn't clear out, it contains your library, cover art, and everything.
What should clear out is "C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 20\Temp"

Mine is empty. :)

With MC 21 - I had to reload the library. While building the library -  the Temp directory went up to 25MB.  Even after reboot.  Deleted it and the computer worked better.

I dont have any anti virus running except for Windows defender.

The temp directory just doesnt seem to clear well.
