Livestreamer with jriver?
« on: July 02, 2015, 04:28:39 pm »

Tried searching for this but didn't find anything..

Is it possible to get http://docs.livestreamer.io/ to work with jriver? I've tried but no success. Currently using it with mpc-hc but would be nice to be able to use it directly with jriver.

Livestreamer is a command-line utility that pipes video streams from various services into a video player, such as VLC. The main purpose of Livestreamer is to allow the user to avoid buggy and CPU heavy flash plugins but still be able to enjoy various streamed content. There is also an API available for developers who want access to the video stream data.

Livestreamer is built upon a plugin system which allows support for new services to be easily added. Currently most of the big streaming services are supported, such as:

    Dailymotion
    Livestream
    Twitch
    UStream
    YouTube Live

... and many more. A full list of plugins currently included can be found on the Plugins page.

I don't know if it can be made to work, but the config instructions are here:

http://docs.livestreamer.io/cli.html#cli-livestreamerrc

and you could use MC's command line options to learn about how to start MC and pass a variable to it:

http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/The_Command_Line

It looks like vlc is the default, but that you can specify another player.
