Playlists Disapeared
« on: August 03, 2015, 02:00:43 pm »

Hi guys,

With a recent automatic update, and some "feature" called Dr. Who., just lost all my Playlists.
The only thing that shows around in the Playlist menu is Car Radio and Dr. Who.

Tried to remove it but did not work. JRemote also does not find any Playlists. Just keeps on searching.

Lib is shared in  a NAS.

Thanks for any help

You can restore a backup.  MC makes them automatically.

It's OK to keep your media on a NAS, but the MC library (database) should be on a local drive.

Well,

I understand that. I have it on the NAS so i can build playlists on a machine and play them in another. No Big Deal. So far so good.

Is it normal that all playlists, including the built in, have disapeared and only Car Audio shows? Any ideas to fix it? Should i Reinstall JRiver?
Can i revert to a previous build without this features? How could i do that?

I am vey disapointed because till now, i was happy with the features. Do not undertsand how new and "improved" functionality, automatically implemented, can be turned on by default and mess with months of work and configurations.

Appreciate any help i can have and strongly advise JRiver Team to be aware of this in future implementations.

Your situation is very odd. This has not happened to anyone else (at least no one else reported anything similar).

I suspect there is something unique about the way your NAS/system is setup. In Library & Folders">Configure Auto Import, do you have "Fix broken links" set to No" or something else? What about "Update for External Changes"? I don't know what caused your issue.

When JRiver adds a new feature it is tested by the "beta users". of course the beta users don't have every possible combination of hardware/software on their machines - but usually the features are pretty well tested before they are released to the public.

Normally, i do not have the auto-import turned on because i can do better control on the imports, since the lib is not local. So, manual imports only.

It has been working for six months or so with no problem.

What i find the most odd, is that the built in lists also have gone.

I do not have hope for restoring my playlists now but i would like, at least, to have the default ones back, and also, maintain my other current configurations. Any advise by the experts on the better way to fix this?

Thanks for the responses so far BTW.

Cheers,

Restore a backup.  MC makes them automatically.

The Backup worked.
Playlists back again.
Not even knew that backups were made automatically. Nice feature that one.
Thanks to all who have read and helped,
