hi there thanks for your time

Kapersky Anti Virus is reporting MC12 as leylogger when I start.

Its says

Keylogger detected. Process is trying to redirect keyboard input.

You could report that to Kapersky.  Nothing funny is going on.  It may be related to the media keys on the keyboard.

I'll echo Jim's remarks.  MC uses straight-forward keyboard handling, and DOES NOT have any kind of keyboard hook that inserts itself into other processes.

MC does support global keyboard shortcuts (and has one by default) that run by using the standards Windows API for a hot key.  This is safe, simple, and does not use injection.  For a virus checker to complain about calling RegisterHotKey(...) would be silly.
