Good day!
I have been using MC for a year or so and have had very few problems and really like it! Until I upgraded to 20.0.131.

What happens: While listening to a track, if I click on another track WITHOUT clicking the "stop" button the main display area locks up saying "BUFFERING..." and nothing happens.
I can still move around the program and select different things but will not play anything.

the only way completely out is to "end process" and start over.  if i close it with the X button it goes away but i cannot restart it unless I "end process"

this is on a Mac mini (boot camp). 8 gigs ram, 1TB SSD, running windows 7 then 10 (same problem on both versions)
please help as this is a very annoying 1st world problem!!
I should be able to switch to different tracks at will w/o having to use the stop function.

This sounds like a problem with antivirus.  What are you using?

only using the default windows defender.
its still happens even when I disable the AV....

this computer is used for nothing except playing media and is optomized for audio/ video specific use.

I dont want to upgrade to the next version of MC while i'm still having this problem. I just tried it again.. same problem

** I noticed this seems to MAINLY happen when switching from .mp3 to mp3 files (all resolutions)
it very seldom happens when switching from .Flac to Flac files.
I can also go from Flac to MP3 and vice versa. but not MP3 to Mp3
but still happens in all combinations if i switch too fast.. grrr!

Are the files on a local drive?

It still sounds like an antivirus problem.  Something is having trouble reading the file.

The wiki has a topic on Windows Defender.

No antivirus should be checking media files each time they open.

well WIN 10 will not let me totally turn it of i can only disable it temporarily..
 Windows says it will turn it back on again automatically in future.

But I had this problem BEFORE the win10 up grade and ONLY AFTER upgrading to MC 20.. did this start 

so Im I never going to be able to buy future upgrades since antivirus seems to be the only problem you can think of that im having??

Well you are running Windows 10 in Boot Camp on a Mac Mini. Lots of other things could be going wrong. Video card drivers?! Audio Drivers?! BIOS?!

Why don't you try running the MC21 trial and see if the problem still happens.

If it does, turn on logging in MC, make the problem happen, save the logs and see if you can work out from them what is going wrong.

Otherwise, try the Troubleshooting Guide, or Jim's Weird Problems thread.

I was unaware I could run the free upgrade version.. I will give your idea a shot! and try the steps you listed.

Update: I tried upgrading as suggested and it seems to be performing as it should!!
