JRemote for Apple TV
« on: November 30, 2015, 08:28:34 am »

The new Apple TV box will sport the option for developers to write apps as they do for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.  Will JRiver be writing JRemote for the new Apple TV?

I second this! I am fed up with my TV's built-in DLNA client. my iPad does work great with Remote.

An app for the Apple TV 4th G would be the missing link...

If JRiver aren't going to port over to the 4th G Apple TV, has anyone had any experience with Plexx or Infuse 4 with JRiver MC yet?

I've heard infuse is very good. It's certainly not bad on the iPad.
Also you could use jremote on an iOS device and AirPlay it to the Apple TV. I do this a lot at friends houses when I visit. Streamed to my iPhone over the net, then air played to their hifi.

Are you able to JRemote -> AirPlay into AppleTV  JRiver recorded TV programs?    If I can do this with JRemote I'll buy the app.

You know what, I was presuming I could do just this with the Apple TV 4 I've just bought home. Unfortunately infuse pro does not enable the apple tv as a DLNA renderer, nor does it appear to be able to play flac or wav files. Plays mkv videos OK but thats not what I want to do!

I have found that 8player does allow you to use the apple tv as a dlna renderer and I can control it with jremote. However it's a bit buggy and changing tracks etc is a bit hit and miss. It would be great to see a minimal jriver apple tv app to just enable the renderer!

Bought today JRiver and JREMOTE to send music collection to APPLE TV by DLNA lamentable does not work

As it is possible that software like JRiver and JREMOTE can not do this

- Plex works with APPLE TV

- Allcast works with APPLE TV, etc, etc, etc

JRiver and JRemote don't work.

Apple TV isn't a DLNA device.  It does not support DLNA.

Ok, solution:

Upgrading app JRemote, to connect with Apple TV for cable network or WiFi

Allcast recognizes it without problem and you can send everything from JRiver

Thanks for your time.

With the right app it can support it no problem. As I say, 8player can act as dlna renderer on ATV4, but its poor quality software with many bugs. It would be awesome to have a jriver renderer app for the ATV4. Would be able to share code with iOS JRemote.
