I guess I don't see the point then. The QNAP has an HDMI for direct connection to a HT screen or AVR.  But there is no MC 10 foot interface to use with the QNAP.  Is there some alternate 10 foot interface that can be used?  Are you expecting to include one in a future build?

JimH:
You can use another copy of MC to control the one on the QNAP.

You can also use any of MC's remotes to control it.

For info, I've got a QNAP TS-653 Pro running QTS 4.2.0 and HD Station 3.1.2

1st point regarding licence registration that could help others coming along behind.
I worked out that I needed to use lower case for the registration code to be successfully recognised.

So, now I've got MC 21.0.28 successfully installed and registered. I can see an Event Notification in the NAS desktop or QTS from HD Station telling me that the MC installation was successful - just in case you're wondering whether I've got that bit off track.

Unfortunately, I didn't have HD Station set up for multi-tasking. This leads me to a 2nd point for QNAP Noobs like me.

2nd point - I'd suggest for others coming after me that in HD Station that the user navigate to:
   Settings > General > Multi-tasking [Check]
If you don't (well this is what happened to me), if MC needs to bring up a web browser (such as during licence registration), then MC disappears (presumably shutdown ??), while the browser fires up.

This then leads me to my 3rd point, which has got me stuck. So, now with multi-tasking enabled and the NAS rebooted (not just an HD Station restart - I went the whole hog for good measure), I can now bring up multiple applications and there's a multi-tasking bar at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, when I double click on the MC icon, I see the Ubuntu style circle of patience fire up and then wait, wait, wait ... the circle disappears and ... nothing.    ?   This has got me stumped (for those outside the Commonwealth that's a cricket reference https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dismissal_%28cricket%29#Law_39:_Stumped).

And a 4th point (if I could get there) ...
If I could get back into MC via HD Station, I'd also be querying what's the recommended practice for setting up folder importing. When I did have access to MC the folder import option brought up a Linux style folder structure and I couldn't readily spot the various folders that I can see in QNAP File Station under DataVol1. So, how do I set up the MC library on the QNAP to serve media files out to the network?

Apologies for not having more detail on this one. Probably missed something obvious but I need to deal with the 3rd point above to provide more intel on that score.

Thoughts? Assistance please?

Cheers    ;)

EDIT:
Self help for the 4th point - did miss the obvious being the post that opened this thread.

Thinking that may work out, I tried it.  I was successful getting Tremote set up to use the server's library on my wifi connected laptop.  It seems to be working.  Still, this gives me the QNAP view on the TV monitor which is pretty useless, along with a desktop view on my laptop to use for control.  It just seems like it would be so much nicer to have that Theater view and not need the laptop.  Perhaps I'll try to virtualize with a windows OS and run MC within that.  But we need to get this "turn off" glitch taken care of ASAP.

bob:
Working with QNAP on a new build that should fix the issue of MC needing to be re-installed for some people running the latest HDStation after rebooting the QNAP
