I play audio and video from a server to a NUC and get fine playback except for 1080p video, which just ever so slightly stutters. I mean, really very slightly. Sometimes the video will play for minutes before you see what seems like a frame drop.

The NUC is wired to the server (not wireless). Windows 8. 4GB RAM. Intel processor at 2.13gH. 64-bit system.

Running MC20. Red October Standard. Tried both Video Clock and hardware accelerate. Benchmark below.

Is it a Celeron processor?  Which NUC?

It doesn't have a lot of power, judging from the benchmark.

Yes, Celeron.
It's the DN2820FYKH.
It's not doing anything besides running MC.
Do I need more power?

I was looking at the NUC5i5RYH with Intel Core i5 Processor, but would rather stick with the one I have, if I can make it work.

Yes.  You need more power.  Or you can tell MC to convert.  It's in the DLNA settings for the server.

Is the other NUC I mentioned powerful enough?

I don't think the NUC is necessarily too slow, just make sure hwaccel is turned on, as the CPU is otherwise too slow.

Small frame glitches can have a variety of reasons, you can try setting up changing the refresh rate to match the video, and enable videoclock to try to smooth out such things.

I don't see where I can turn hardware acceleration on. Might not be available.
I was able to change the refresh rate from 59hz to 60hz. That definitely smooths out the image.
But now I'm getting occasional stutters, every minute or so. I definitely wasn't getting this before.
So: the not-so-smooth image is fixed, but now I'm getting stutters...

Switched back to 59hz. It's not jerky, at least, though it's still not smooth. I just want to know if this is a hardware limitation or if I can tweak settings to fix it. Anyone?

Just realize that this is basically the same hardware as the ID Classic, so everything should run fine, no?

This is basically mirrors the issues that I'm having.  I'm interested to hear what winds up being the root cause of your issue.  I'll also let you know if I learn anything.  Good luck.

Best option is to enable 'Hardware accelerate video decoding when possible' under the Settings->Video.

Are you using RO Standard or RO HQ? Also try enabling Videoclock to smooth out frame/refresh rate mismatches.

RO standard, with videoclock. All the details in the first post. Any further suggestions?

So I've gotten conflicting responses here. Anyone want to weigh in... I really would like to solve this. If I have to invest in a newer NUC I need to start saving.
