Aspect Ratio issues.
« on: January 08, 2016, 08:42:27 am »

I am unable to remove the black bars in movies by manually changing the aspect ratio in every build after 21.0.27. The first time I installed a higher build than .27 it said adding required components then playback started but I am unable to remove the black bars.

If I uninstall the newer build and go back to 21.0.27 again I get Adding required components followed by playback and I can change the aspect ratio.

Has anything changed with the madvr drivers. I am using Red October HQ mode with the latest Intel HD Graphics drivers on 8.1 Pro (rolled back due to stability issues with 10).

Any assistance would be great.

Thanks.

Hi, doesn't anyone else have this problem. I really want to use the latest builds but without the option to use the aspect ratio option to remove the black bars I'm stuck on the 21.0.27 build.

Please can someone advise how to cure this.

I tried both "Crop Black Bars" and "Override Aspect Ratio" options with 21.0.34 on ROHQ and both seem to function perfectly fine.

Not that I use Aspect Ratio, but I am seeing the same here. "Crop bars" has no effect in 21.0.34, but works as it should in 20.0.132.

I am on Windows 10 and using Red October HQ. Could it be a setting in MadVR?

Hi all,

I've just tested this with 21.0.34 and all the aspect ratio changes are working fine for me in both Red October Standard and HQ modes.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit with onboard Intel HD video. I've tried changing various things but am unable to stop it working so I don't know what could be causing your issue.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hi Hendrik,

Where are these options your talking about and why would my issues only occur with MC builds higher than 21.0.27.
I have confirmed it's only when I use Red October HQ mode. Standard Red October is OK yet HQ is fine in 21.0.27

This video http://pixienet.myzen.co.uk/jriver/MOV_0002.MP4 was shot with 21.0.34 and when I change the aspect ration the picture changes a wee bit, but not the black bars.

Have you modified madVR in any way?

If you just want the image to fill the screen by losing the black bars while also losing a bit of image left and right, the proper option to use would be "Zoom", not cropping black bars, imho.
But I'll check if something changed.

No Jim. I wouldn't know how to. All I do is install the new version on top of the old version. If I install .27 over .34 everything is OK.

I talked to madshi, and he will look into it from the madVR side.

Hi Hendrik,

Did you hear back from madshi to see if anything in madVR changed. I would like to try the new 3D features but only the 21.0.27 build works for me. Everything after that doesn't.

Thanks,

John
