Duplicate media files
« on: January 11, 2016, 04:23:47 am »

Hi

I've tried searching for an answer to this but everything i've tried does not seem to work.  All media links within the library seem to have been duplicated.  However only one of the links actually works, the other has no pathway and appears as if its broken.  When i try to "fix broken links" using the auto import to refresh nothing changes.

I am using a NAS to store the media.  However, i've checked that the mapped drives are correctly referenced within the auto update and everything seems to be in order.

What could be causing this?

I suppose that your NAS is running two servers; namely a File Server and a UPNP DLNA Digital Media Server; both of which deliver the same media library by different mechanisms; and I suppose that you are trying to import both of those.

You can check it in MC because the file path from the file server will be a UNC pathname ("Server//Folder/File" or "Drive:/Folder/File") and the one from the DMS will be a URL ("http://server/path").

Solution is to turn off the DMS on your NAS.

What i have done is map two separate folders from the NAS (one for TV and one for Film), as two separate drives on the HTPC.  According to the auto import configuration, only these two drives are set as the watch folders.  I've noted that inside the library the file path for one of the duplicate files is always correct, while the other is blank (and does not play).  I tried finding something for DMS on my NAS (readyNAS) and could not find anything.
