You need to do it in two step:

1) rip (use WAV or APE for perfect quality)
2) burn those files to a new CD

I know that MC is the one that does everything but some tasks are just better done with a specialist tool.  If you are going to want to do this regularly look no further than CloneCD.

CloneCD is a great program, as is EAC, but I wish MC would make them obsolete on my system.
Looks like we may be getting there eventually.

Matt, it is complicated to make this a one-step deal?

A new option, or just another way to present something which exists in another form?
Either way it looks like another little something to give MC an additional egde in an already competitive world.

Why bother integrating this type of function into MC?  I think this would be a step too far.  Let MC concentrate on what it does best which is organising and playing media.  CloneCD is a great little tool that no one should be without.

MC burner is going better and better.
I just DO NOT understand why such a basic fonction is not in MJ or Mc.
Mister Joe jukeboxs have it since long

As they have an 'eject cd' butom ,by the way.....

Not to say that other programs as cloneCd or Nero are not as good ,they are better because of all the fonctions they have.

But ,i'am sure that quite a lot of users would like very much to use MC and not bother about other softwares.

With 'copy cd to cd on the fly' and any kind of window showing your list when building a playlist to burn , many of us would use only MC

I've always been surprised that such a simple function is not in MC, an all-in-one program.  I'd get rid of all other software if it were.

It seems as though it's almost in there, if they could just make a function that does the two steps listed above with one click, we'd be there....

heh. This last sentence kills me. Are you really that glazed over with this thing to not even realize what you said?

Let's see..

MC can burn, rip, encode, tag, ftp, web page generation, images, video, replay gain, upload to handheld, dvd, tv, stream files, media serve files, tivo compatible.

And..oh forget it, zealots don't understand this kind of thinking anyway.

Nuthin'

Maybe a LITTLE harsh on the "glazed over" thing.

You WERE calling US Zealots, right? That's great. I'm guilty of that.

How's the weather there? It's been incredibly HOT & HUMID here. Hard on the nerves when working outside. I did that all day and NO shade. If you'll read some of my other posts, you'll see I'm still a little giddy from the heat.

Zeal = Enthusiasm, hearty persistent effort.  (Guilty as charged).

I don't understand why you think a zealot would not understand what you were saying.  Was zealot the word you intended to use?  Perhaps your comment wasn't very well thought out.

We are all entitled to our view and I stand by mine.  MC does everything I need and more when it comes to playing, ripping, organising and burning which is what I expect it to do.  CloneCD is a very accomplished replication program that will allow you to make PERFECT BACKUPS of most protected CDs (something you are legally entitled to do).  Copy protection methods have become much more sophisticated in recent years so taking a safety backup of a disc more difficult.  The fact that CloneCD concentrates on this one function is probably the reason why it is so good at it, hence my usage of the term Jack of all trades...  This was not a dig at MC - I think the program is fantastic.

8_cats,
Just highlight the files you want on the CD and select "Tools" - "Burn CD" and follow directions. You want an "Audio CD".

There aren't any dumb questions. When you ask, then you become less dumb. As Martha would say, "That's a GOOD thing".

I agree with the sentiment that the lack of a "copy CD" function seems like an odd omission from MC, which struck me when I first started using this program.   Like others here said, if MC did this I wouldn't have a need for Nero, and it seems like a very obvious function for a program that is so robust in so many other ways.

On top of that, how complex would this be to implement?  Isn't this a fairly straightforward procedure?

OK I am not at my MC machine anyway but...

If you have one drive you have to rip and burn anyway so I will ignore that...

If you have 2 drives dont you just highlight drives (source drive) or browse the My Computer tree to the drive...

Show the files...

Click the burn CD button...

Again perhaps I am being dense but MC is not on this laptop... Whats wrong with the above ??
