Topic: Deleted playlist still there? (Read 8994 times)

Hi
I had a playlist that I called Laid back that I have deleted already long time ago. Recently I noticed when looking in the tags of some certain songs that I have in the playlist that it still look like that they are in that deleted playlist. The playlist don´t exist anymore so it would be nice if the tag not show that the song is in that playlist. Is there any way to get rid of this "notification" in the tag?
I attach a printscreen in order to try to explain what I mean.

Boy, I can't explain that at all.

I just tested and it was showing a playlist, I deleted the playlist, and then it was no longer showing the playlist.

I would think actually having the playlist in the tree would be the only way it could appear.

Maybe you can think about it for a while? There is maybe a way to get rid of that in the tag by doing that in the program files or register?

Here are my playlists. As you can see the laid back-playlist is not there. Only in the tags.

I wonder if the issue would exist through a library backup?

Well I can sure reproduce it at home. Strange!

Hopefully it happens at work in the debugger.

I'll follow up Monday after I get a chance to dig at it a little.

Well the mystery has been figured out. We hide the "Downloaded" playlist / playlist group at tree building time. But that group has your "Laid Back" playlist in it.

Going to have to ask John for help because I think this must be his handy work!

I have installed the build 21.0.42 but it still look like that the song is in this non existence playlist.
When looking in the tag. Please see the att. picture.
The playlist had the name "Laid back".

The "Laid Back" playlist should be there now under the Downloaded playlist group.

No, the playlist don´t show. It is empty there. It only shows in the tag information to the songs that has been there when I had the play list. Before I erased it.
Please see on the attached picture in my last reply. And here comes a new picture showing the empty playlist.

So the playlist is erased long time ago but it still shows in the songs tag information as if the playlist still is there. I would like to get rid of that playlist in the tag information also.
I mean now that the playlist is gone why is it still showing in the tag info from the songs?

Do you have a playlist file for "Laid Back" at C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 21\Library\Playlists\Playlists?

Not there but in a folder named Downloads. It looks like this:
C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 21\Library\Playlists\Downloads

What does that mean? Can I just delete it from there ?

I have deleted it now. But it still shows in the tag information of the songs that have been in that playlist.

Hi Captor.
I don't know what else to tell you. Hopefully one the experts will have an idea.

Is the a way to just manually delete these orphan tags? I suppose if there was you would have done so by now.

What if you create a new playlist with the same name (Laid Back). Maybe that will overwrite what ever file is broken, then you can delete the playlist - and it might take the ghost tags with it.

I just loaded the test library you sent me.

It had moved the "Laid Back" playlist from "Downloaded" to "Doctor Who" for the playlist group.

But then I erased "Laid Back" from there and it stopped showing for Love & Rockets - So Alive 1.

You have to turn on the Dr Who feature at Tools>General>Features if you want it. Then you'll see it by Playlists.

Dear Country Bumkin and Matt,
That worked just fine. I activated Dr. who and imported the playlist from Downloads in to Dr who and then deleted it. And now everything looks like to be gone! Yihaaa.. Thank you very much both. Sorry for all my stupid questions...
