I really like this UI skin and button styling effects on this 'Amarra For Tidal'.

Dark grey with very smooth edging and shadow effects.

Gives a very smooth looking modern UI, with nicely styled transport controls section. Also the EQ and other sections with the large dial to select thing options and modes. Just nice to play with on the eye and with the mouse.





Could we have a skin like this please, inc the settings pages all looking very cool as well.  And you just gotta love that big beautiful dial

Apologies, I don't know who to ask about skins so posted here. I just love this skin for this Amarra.  If we could have something like this, with that smooth looking spacey feeling, and settings buttons etc, and the dial (love the dial).  Perfect for large screens in dimmed rooms.   

Mix that with a standard view right click context menu sideshow based on currently playing track/album folder (artwork, covers, images). And using the rotated reflection effect.  Well,  JR would then be beyond perfect in my opinion.

You're not likely to see JRiver change the settings interface to add visually "cool" elements.  I don't think you can "skin" anything like that.  It would need to be a fundamental program change.

I know you've tried a lot of skins.  Do you have any you like?

It is a great looking UI though yes?  


I have liked a handful of skins don't get me wrong,  the dark ones.   I use Black on Black and have done for well over a year or two.  
My only wish is to help encourage forward thinking material design in UI's to better JR.  I know a lot of people don't see the need for well designed settings pages
or those big dials. I do though.   I am happy with the dark skins I have to choose from and only want to improve on them, pushing forward with UI design.

I don't mean to upset or annoy anyone over this, just express my ideas for the future.  JR is the best player and I love it.


I tried 'Black on Blue Too' the other day, which I found a nice change.  I've tried 'Air',  and 'Purity Dark' and 'Silent Night'.

Also another one called 'Audition' and '50 Shades Of...' are both very good.

But always find myself coming back to Black on Black for some reason.


Its a shame about the that Tidal 'Amarra' skin.  I wasn't aware it couldn't be replicated on JR.  It does look smooth and spacey.  
I'm a big fan of forward modern looking UI's, from the settings to the main windows.

I guess I'm just a very frustrated futurist.  I really like GUI material design.

*edit, the Onyx skin seems a bit broke when I loaded it.  Back to Black on Black for now.

OMG! the interface of amara is really similar to MC :/

The knob 'll surely not be implemented.

But it's possible to make a knob for volume bar  i think.

Hmm, it works here under 21.0.55 for Mac.  I'm not sure if the author is active here any more.  Too bad you couldn't try it.

Audition looks nice.  I think I'll load it as a test on my system.

Not really me though,  dark yes.     I'm having love for the 'Amarra' look though.

The Tidal 'Amarra' skin. Gutted we cannot replicate something like at least the top control section.  The colour, the button's and how they fit into the top section creating a spacey feeling.    I know its on a AppleMac so has the softer font look which does add to the smooth look.  I read it might come to PC.  But I don't want to subscribe to Tidal or stream my music over the web, local storage for me so JRiver is perfect.     Now if this Amarra/Tidel allowed local storage on PC... I can't say I wouldn't at least give it a 30 day demo.  I so like that smooth top control section and font smoothing and button art.   Its like looking at some very cool VST plugin GUI.

I don't have the skills to attempt an 'Amarra' type skin, or as close as JR can come to it.

For now I'm using 'Audition'.  And Black on Black.

I've made improvements in my own fork of ModernCards (the pre-scaling, non-dark edition of ModernCards). I'm not sure if I should release any of the skin mods I've made though.

Anyone have any new dark skin suggestions for 2018. 

I've been using the  Adobe Audition skin but its showing some odd errors now in MC23.xx so I've sent a message to the author asking for a fresh 2018 update if possible.

But am keen to check out other new dark skins.

I smoothed out some of what I considered to be rough edges....

Toned down scroll bars
Skinned tag window
Created quick find toolbar
Tweaked list selection to better convey what has focus and what does not
Changed rating stars

This is an old school skin from at least eight years ago, which means there are no OS specific considerations, no scaling and so on, but, it does mean that the skin comes in at around 300kb, which is nice.

I've attached my mods to this post for anyone interested. Respect to Alexander234 for the original work.

Alexander234 also has an "Air" skin available, which is not bad either, but needs at least a tag window skin added to make it a viable option for today's MC.

Yes your modded Silent Night makes a good dark skin.

Any chance you can fix up the Adobe Audition with a 2019 make over.

I wish I had the skills to create a JRiver skin akin to the UI styling one sees here with 'Amarra For Tidal'.  I really like this UI skin and button styling effects.

Dark grey with very smooth edging and shadow effects. Very smooth on the eye. Add in smoothly designed and animated button pushes and dials turning and larger settings section buttons that light up when active.  Right thought the UI from front end to back end settings pages.

Just nice to play with on the eye and with the mouse.   In some ways a little like some of the best designs we see with VST filter and tool plugins where one can see an almost photo realistic front panel to interact with.   But with just a little of this so the user doesn't get tired of using dials and large buttons.
