What's Next?

MC is rocking along nicely and the continual improvement is great!

I miss however all heady talk of exciting new features pushing the boundaries like:
- Full Android Client
- Flexible Video Transcoding Engine
- In sync Multi Room playback (Airplay / DLNA V3? etc)
- ...and whatever...

So what's on the cards?  ....I'm easily bored (sorry!)

Thanks
Nathan

3D Blu-ray is a month old and you need more?

Android will come.  Keenan is returning this summer.

We can save custom views and retrieve them now.

We'll be able to do remote setup of devices soon, beginning with the Id.

We have SSDP just working in OneRemote.  Find the device, save it as a button, connect to it for setup or control.

We still need to be able to provide Theater View and remote control on Linux and OSX.

Intercom is also on the list somewhere.

:) if I had to put the intercom aside, I'd push for in sync multi room audio.  +3D BD is soooo last month!

What do others think for the next "Big Thing" that MC should tackle?

Document management!  It's already workable but we all, have MC open at the office, using the awesome database to bypass explorer completely would be so amazing.  Images, videos, audio...and office!

Or maybe I'm one of the few that isn't tied to workplace or access or some such

1. IPTV support
2. Ability to create convolution filters (something like Acourate)
3. Give the users more flexibility in DSD (e.g. some options like HQplayer has)

Better support of the real estate available on giant 4K screen desktops in standard view ?

On my main workstation, I have a 40" monitor, 3840x2160 @60Hz @100% scaling.

For instance, when I tag my photos, I usually use pane tagging mode to fill [People], [Places] and [Keywords].
I would love to have multiple columns available for each of  those three tags.  This would save me a ton of scrolling around !

This should already be possible. Start a new thread and explain more clearly.

You know what I asked for, but, I was shot down.  LOL  Preparing for the future would be good, though, so that when UHD becomes more common place adding support will be easier.

I'm personally looking forward to theater view and remote control on Linux.  MC is the only thing keeping my living room system tethered to Windows :-)

Do you guys employ timers to see what type of functions are being used across your client base?  I'd be curious to know how many people actually use that.  Not criticizing the decision, but in terms of engineering effort to user adoption, I have to imagine this one is way down the food chain...

1) Android client with local content.
2) Linux/ Mac OSX Theatre View.

I wish we knew with more precision.  Sometimes very advanced features become normal after a few years.

We're committed to both Android and Linux.

yes, me also.

I also really, REALLY want an MC based Android player.  Something to play local files AND from my library, but with the ability to tag/rate all the music in one interface.

I would certainly opt in to sending anonymized usage metrics back to JRiver if that would help (and not impact my listening/viewing experience).

Thanks.  It would be nice to know more about how MC is used.
