are you working on soundquality?
from my experience there are diffrent hifi-player on the market and from my experience with different dacīs different os and different speakers and setups jriver seems not to bee the best of all...so itīs not bad - but itīs not the best.
so my question is - are you still working on this topic? is there any improvement in future updates?
also i must say that i donīt have a dsd capable dac...so in bitstreaming everything should be fine?

Hi

I just can say its super high quality, never had any player as flexible and good as JRiver. You must run ASIO Driver with a professional soundcard and surely all the chain must be high quality, from the musicfiles up to speakers, headphones.
It runs also surround in highest quality if you want.

If the sound quality is not good, you must have flawed musicfiles or any device in your chain, or wrong setup of JRiver.

All systems are different. But I have to say, from my experience, JRiver sounds great.

I've tried a lot of players: PureMusic, Amarra, FooBar....a bunch of others. In a bunch of different high end systems (Proac, Kharma, ATC speakers -- AudioResearch, MusicalFidelity, Pass Labs amplification, etc.)  In my worst stages (not anymore) I'd spend silly money on power cords. Or fuses.  I had a dedicated junction box and wiring put in just for the stereo. You get the idea.

Anyway, JRiver has always sounded just great. I've never looked back.

I think it might be a bit tricker to set up, but the sound quality is, in my mind, beyond doubt.

If all else fails, I'd try a blind test to rule out that it's just a placebo effect happening here.

i am from Audirvana Plus but it was not easy to made that software playing my DAC at best resolution upsampling as i want, still tough...
YES Audirvana and JRiver works perfectly at native settings (means playing 16/44 at 16/44...) if i can say that...

i have read review that said playing my DAC (see my signature) at upsampled files to 352/384 that was the best hearing thing...
so i upsampled my 16/44 to 32/352... and JRiver is much more stable for playing at those levels with my Mac Mini then Audirvana
but it can play them too but couln't lock often as JRiver.... i still think i am plagued with USB 3 and El Crapitan....
still buggy with 10.11.5b1

But i am sure there is a different in sound at native resolution software... that is not placebo...
but JRiver is more stable for me now... and can do much more than Audirvana aside music...
but they do sound different for sure...

Please let people express themselve even if you don't like it JRiver....
Audirvana is always trying to improve is sound Quality, you should try too...
everybody can do better... i should too :-)

We think MC provides the highest quality sound possible, and so do some other players.  You can't add quality to the original recording.

Subtle differences can make you believe you hear something different.  Volume, for example, or how you hold your head.

Most of the developers working on "sound quality improvements" are shoveling "snow".  This includes the individuals offering enhanced operating systems, etc..

If something else sounds different, they may be applying DSP effects.  You can also do this with MC in the DSP Studio.

You might be happier with the response to your question on Computeraudiophile.com or another site where "sound quality improvements" are a topic of much discussion.

Or turn up the volume a little.
