Buffering ... Beach Ball

What settings might help stop the occasional Buffering hang. Get a beach ball for over 15 of minutes. Finally had to force quit.

Neither, I think. After shutdown, the hung file played nicely, and I am very careful about what music I bring onto my computer and into my library.

I am a DJ. When I am previewing a playlist, I sometimes play the first few seconds of a song and then move on and play the next, etc. This tends to happen 15 or 20 songs into such a preview.
