I have setup a server etc with no problems

The router has NO internet connection just LAN and wireless

When I enter the access key from mc it fails to connect, is the lack of an Internet connection having an impact

I thought I saw something about registering the access code with the mc server

Can I get around this ?

The Access Key requires an Internet connection, but you can enter your IP address instead.  You will see that on the window when you're asked for the Access Key.  I think you'll find information on the wiki also.

Big Problem on the face of it.

How I want to work is to have a completely separate network for music & media with its own router. To prevent any surges from external sources ie lightening, which destroyed all my hi fi a few months back, I want to have no external connections such as ADSL cable lines etc. just a stand alone Router / LAN Network

I have bought a router to do this (TP-LINK D7) and set I up . The rest of the set up is a

PC to act as a server running MC as a server
A Cambridge Audio CXN music player running on a LAN connection
A Mede8er 800 running on a LAN connection.

There is a second Network running independently using ADSL and wireless , ie the main network for the house.

I want to use JRemote to control everything.

As I try to start the server MC requires an internet connection , if I use the 'House" network it can start the server fine.

When I revert to Media Network and try to start JRemote , it runs off to the Media Server at MC and since there is no internet connection it fails.

I assume each time JRemote starts it needs to read something from the Server, is that the case ?

On the face of it I have bought a router for nothing as without internet I cannot seem to use either the MC server or JRemote

It would seem that 2 neyworks is not feasible in these conditions. I know for ADSL that you can only run one router at a time on the ADSL input.

Can someone advise please

Did you try entering the IP address instead of the Access Key?

Yes same problem. I did it in the area where you connect a New Library

I couldn't see in the actual server connection set up where it would go

On the face of it I can start the server by connecting else where but I cannot start JRemotes connection to the server with internet

I seem to be stuck

Try adding the port.  Example:

192.168.1.33:52199

Enter it instead of the Access Key in JRemote.

It still fails saying Network is unreachable (I assume the internet ?)

I can see the wireless of the router on my main PC and I can copy files to it so its obviously connected

I don't understand the steps JRemote takes to establish its connections

Are you using the iOS or Android version of JRemote?

I have both but the work so far is on iOS

Using Gizmo on Android, you can enter the IP address and port as explained above.  That would be a good test.

I'm pretty sure that message (unreachable) refers to the IP address it is trying to connect to.  Try using a web browser on the same device you are trying to use JRemote on.  Type in the IP address:Port like you have above.  EDIT:  I just noticed that your PORT listed above is wrong.  You have 52291.  It should be 52199 .  That might be the issue.  If not, try it in a web browser as I suggested.  If that fails, you have a network issue (like the mobile device is on the wrong network).
