I guess my setup probably rules me out as a provider (no dedicated server, not on 24/7 etc) but I think the world can live without my pathetic 4000 files. If I was to be a provider, Id be keen to know exactly what I was committing to, in terms of uptime, tagging/encoding etc.
As a listener, its an interesting idea, though. Although I listen to music a lot, theres a fair bit of dead time where I feel Id be paying for streaming but not making use of it. Of course its no different to cable/sat TV - but I dont subscribe to that either
Im happier with the emusic model where I download in chunks and listen at leisure. Im generally wary about signing up for 'long' periods, and so Id be much more likely to go for a weeks trial etc. But pricing of course is a factor here.
Ive never used p2p, so I dont have many terms of reference here.
