"start DAO recording comand failed on device 1:0:0 cuesheet was rejected by cdrm recorder"

Now i hope that you can appreciate the effort i have put in to this s.o.s (stop, observere, shoot it), that you will hed my call, and not just pass me by with your pitty.

Since you've got MJ using external ASPI then you need to get the latest (4.7.1.2) from the Adaptec site. Make sure MJ is NOT running when you update. It should fix the problem.

Try a smaller number of files. Possibly MJ isn't showing the correct capacity, or your media or burner doesn't support the capacity you have chosen.
Another thing to try is uncheck the "direct mp3 decoding" option.

Thanks for reaching out.

I have updated to the latest  (4.7.1.2) version.
BUT just b4 all that happened,  MJ flashes opening sreen at me then gives me a black screen- if a click the mouse, i will get contol bars (play, sop etc) appearing at the top and bottom of the sreen - the screen remain black. If i don't do anything, the controls will disappear. The controls don't do anything. Installing version 4.7.1.2 has not help in this.  This black hole is getting bigger - beam me up scotty

So, i have done the up date but i can't MJ to start so as to see if it has done the trick.

This relationship is sinking fast :'( :'(

Please just state the facts without the extras.  They make it hard to read and unnecessarily irritating.  Thanks.

Do you have any serious problems except for burning?

If not, there may be a driver problem with the burner.

Does it play, rip, etc?

Turn off all skins and visualizations.  Check what else is running in the background and eliminate anything you can.

I would suggest...

1) uninstall MJ (backup license as well)
2) Reboot
3) Install XP SP1
4) Reinstall MJ

Other software known to cause problems are WMP9 and older versions of Nero. If you have neither and if the above doesn't work....?

:) :)
To Jim, Sorry about all the rubbish - i was just trying to make it interesting, as you must get 10's emails each day that ask for help.

I followed xen-uno suggestions. So far MJ is stable and doing everything it should. It does say when i am writing the the disk is full - but it writes anyway. This may settle down when i reboot. The first disk i have recorded i have noted some static in the recording. I haven't had a chance to check the orignal recording yet, so this may not be MJ.

Many thanks for the help Jim, xen-uno, JohnT

Here's the final piece of the puzzle...

XP's built in burning software MAY BE interfering, in which case you need to disable it by...

Right clicking on the My Computer icon and select properties.
Find your RW drive and right click on icon. Select Drive properties.
Go to the Recording tab and uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive"
Reboot

I have unchecked "Enable CD recording on this drive" and that has cleared the "disk is full" message on blank CD's when i am writting.

One last thing. Fairly regulaly i am getting an error message that reads -

When i am switching between songs - when i double click to start a new song before the one playing has finished.

Is this just a setting thing in options or something else ?

Windows Media Player 9 installed by any chance?

If yes... then that is likely your problem. Microsoft decided to be their usual "wonderful" selves and delay the release of the SDK for WMP9.

The JRiver folk have it now, and the problems should be fixed in the not so distant future (couple weeks tops, I've heard rumored).

If no WMP9... it may be something to do with digital rights management... assuming you are dealing with .wma files.

In that case... I don't know what to suggest... I stay as far away from .wma as possible.

Hope that answered your question.  :D

Yes i do have WMP9 installed.
So that looks likely what will be causing the error problem.
I'll know in a couple of weeks.

Many thankyou's to all for you help :) :D
