I just found out about JRiver, and am planning on purchasing the product.  But before I do, I am trying to find out how many pc's I can run it on.  I would like to have a common application, for the following:

Wold I be able to accomplish this with with the cross platform license as listed on the purchase page.?

1. Media Center PC connected to TV
2. PC in home office
3. Mac Laptop
4. My office computer
5. Wifes laptop (Mac) at home

Welcome.  You can use your license on all your machines within reason.  If you use both Windows and Mac, you would need a Master License.  The wiki has a topic on Master License.
