MC 22 Linux not seeing my renderer
« on: August 26, 2016, 06:10:03 pm »

Hi guys,

I had Ubuntu 14.04 with MC21 working fine. I updated to Ubuntu 16.04 and MC 21 could no longer see my renderer (below the Playing now which has all DLNA capable devices showing)which is a Simaudio 180Mind connected to Simaudio 300D DAC and no longer sees my Denon 2113 (avr). Neither devices are showing up.

I updated to MC22 Ubuntu today and still neither of those two items are showing. Plex and Mybooklive are showing up and I can stream plex no problems to any of my home network devices.

My network devices and my router settings have not changed before the change.

I have MC22 in Windows which shows:

Playing Now
Player
denon:[Avr-2113CI]
Mind:-a8-00(with other numbers)
Playing from Library
MybookLive-Twonky ( I dont use that for music)
Add library
Then the rest of the tabs.

No problems streaming in Windows where everything gets detected by MC22 but no joy in Ubuntu. Any ideas?

Your answers are much appreciated.

Perhaps something else hogging the SSDP port (udp 1900).
If it's got rygel installed on it, uninstall it.
Otherwise, a firewall?

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I was away for a while.

I am unsure what would be hogging the port. Fortunately the windows version works fine.

I do not have Rygel as you suggested, but would like to get this ubuntu version going as it is my server.

Thanks,

Pierre

You could try
netstat -an | grep 1900
WITHOUT MC running to see if something else is on the ssdp port.

Also,
iptables -L -n
will tell you if a firewall is running.

Ok I tried that but no avail. My router setup is correct.

Nothing seems to be hugging 1900, I checked ssdp server as I rebooted my renderer and it picked-up the address but is not assigning it anything in Mediacenter.

Everything else shows up there including plex, mybooklive and my laptop.

Frustrating to say the least...

Try right-clicking on "Playing Now" while MC's media network is up and running and do "delete dynamic zones" -> ALL.
Perhaps the zone was hidden for some reason.
Also make sure Options->Media Network->Advanced DLNA Renderer, Server and Controller are all checked.

What about Media Network on the Linux machine?  Did you turn it on?

And did you click the box to get an access key?

Hi Jim and Bob,

Thanks for trying to get me out of this funk.

I've never had an issue like this before at all. All the boxes are checked and when I go to media network in the services and plug-ins everything seems to work fine with all the servers running great ( i clicked on each individual to make sure).

Everything shows up fine now within the program but it does not present itself as a UPNP device on my phone app. So i cannot stream or see any of my music.

I double checked the working Windows version for any differences in the set-up, but the same boxes are checked and should be working.

Trivial.

Thanks again.

Maybe install device spy on a windows box and look and the UPnP devices. Perhaps there is an overlapping uuid or something like that.

Strange though as there are no differences in equipment.OS and mediacenter are the only things different.
