Hairstyle improvements
« on: July 29, 2003, 01:35:28 pm »

Just bought MC9 last week, but I read in another thread that you would no longer implement any new features in media center 9.1 beta.

I just want you to consider giving the hairstyle a little more focus before doing this.

The hairstyle mode is probably the most important part of MC9 when you want to interact with users.

The main GUI (while very powerful) is way to "chunky".

I try to use it with a ATI remote wonder.

When testing, please use a remote, not the keyboard.. you do not get the same feel for awkward behavior.

Needed.
Hot switch of views/playlists programmable to remote.
Takes forever to move through the buttons to find what you are looking for.

Must be possible to have the hairstyle GUI stick.
You don't ever want to see the normal gui, unless you press some hotkey that is hard to find.

And PLEASE let it stay in current view when returning from full screen.

Also when at the far end of a tree (the leaf), and you want to jump into select mode, you cannot press "right" since it will start playing from the beginning .. not logical that you have to press tab (special hotkey needs to be set on the remote).

Just these few changes would greatly improve the hairstyle mode.

Are you using 9.0 or 9.1?

I just realized one more thing.

When using a remote, you should be able to do time jumps.

One short and One longer.
Both should be possible to change.

The ctrl-right and ctrl-left is only set to a few seconds, and when you watch a movie or tv episode, you have to press LOTS of times to get anywhere :)

BTW... is there any way to see what filter MC9 is using?
I need to shuffle things around to get my revo to decode audio into 5.1 channel using the windvd for my M-Audio revolution soundcard.
