IR Receivers and Remotes on Linux
« on: November 10, 2016, 05:30:21 pm »

We're hoping to have Windows Media Center Remotes (Green Button) working soon on Linux and probably Mac, too.

I think we will be able to support the Flirc IR receiver and Bob is also working on trying to get the built-in IR receiver on the NUC's to work.

This will make Theater View on Linux a better experience.

Sorry if this is a dumb question - will it also support the standard MS IR receiver (or clones thereof)? I would assume there'd be plenty of these lying around homes...

It should, they use the same IR codes (from what I can tell).  I've not seen any differences on windows.

I'm hoping that on my iMac my existing built in ir receiver will work for this. At least on Mac OS.
