As soon as I open the program, I just watch it until it crashes, I usually don't have to wait long. My files are on a Synology NAS that is directly plugged into the mac mini by CAT5 through an Apple router. I downloaded and reinstalled the program, and I turned off Auto Import, that didn't change anything. I don't have MC using the NAS as a DLNA server, I have it set up as the Main Library, kind of like a big external HD, could that be the problem?

Here is the crash log...

Try turning off auto import.

Raygreenie:

This line from your log file:

0045972: 62959616: Import: AnalyzeAudio: Analyzing: /Users/raymondgreenfield/Music/HDtracks/The Dave Brubeck Quartet/Time Out/02 Strange Meadow Lark.aif

Is one of the last in the file before it abruptly ends.  This is a strong indicator that the file above is broken in some way.  Try moving that file (or folder) to somewhere that MC is not monitoring for auto import.  Then restart MC and see what happens.

Bad music files are the most common cause of MC crashing.  A lot of new users deal with a small handful of bad files and then never have a problem again.

It is very strange.  I am having a similar problem with the Dave Drubeck file.  In my case JRiver will play and run fine for other music files, but for my Dave Drubeck and Graceland files MC immediately crashes.  I have looked at both files and they are .aif at 88200 and 96000 sample rates respectively.  Both files play fine in iTunes.  I have checked other aif files at 176400 and 192000 which play fine. Flac files at 96000 run fine. I do know that the Graceland files worked flawlessly on earlier versions of MC. I can't say for certain on which version this problem would have first occurred, but I know that it was fine before Christmas.
I am running the current version of MC 22.0.54, and the files are also stored on my MacBook. I also turned off auto import.

I have attached a log file of the crash. Log copy 3.txt
I have also included a log file of a successful file being played Log copy.txt

Even though they play in iTunes, chances are they are indeed bad files if they crash MC. Bad files during import and auto-import are usually the main cause of MC crashes, as it seems to be the case here.

I have a very large library (over 85,000 files in FLAC) and not a one of them is bad. When I converted from iTunes years ago, files which played fine in iTunes would cause MC to crash, since they were indeed bad. Once I replaced/re-ripped the bad files, I've never had any issue since in Windows, Mac or Linux.

Ultimately, you can upload the bad file(s) and give them to Matt or John and have them take a look.

You are correct.  I did some further review and determined that I had a tagging issue with some files.  Problem resolved.  thanks.

Could you share one of the bad files?

I did have a bad file, which I removed, but that was only part of the problem. It was crashing all the time, regardless of what was playing (even with nothing playing). I can't tell you what I did differently, but it has magically become more stable, it only crashes occasionally now.

If it's still crashing occasionally, enable logging and post a log here after it crashes. It might be another bad file.

Problem cleared up with correcting some bad files.
