Order Of Network and Device Switch On
« on: February 18, 2017, 02:44:19 am »

I am still having funnies seeing all the devices on my Network..

Due to climatic issues discussed before , I power down everything overnight and restart the whole network, extenders and audio devices daily. Is there any order I should follow.

Say for example my PC boots quicker than my router so MC is auto-started before the Router has finished booting. This shows a blank start up screen as the internet connection isn't ready yet, clicking anything in the tree view restores the detail.

If I now switch on my Streamer (CXN) , should MC pick it up (and if so how long should it take , does it poll constantly ?) or does the streamer have to be ready before MC service starts. Often restarting MC & Service fixes the issue.

Also it seems to take for ever for MC to see the streamer. Just now the streamer appeared after at lest 30 mins of the network being started. The Streamer was visible on the network and I was playing music from it's local USB drive by Wi Fi during this period.

The upshot is that to settle everything down , I often have to restart both the PC and the streamer once the Network is up.

Its not insurmountable but I tend to wander around in the morning and restart everything in no particular order

Thanks

Mike

What does  "at lest" mean: "least" or "last" :-) ?

I would say first the servers and then the clients : first the router, so that there is some kind of network active when other devices boot up (even if the router is not yet connected to Internet, but at least is up), then the streamer, and then MC.

Just one hint about the PC not seeing the network, because started too lately: often, a single "ipconfig /renew" typed on the command line is enough for the PC seeing the network again, and is much faster than rebooting.

What version of MC are you using?

This getting worse, I now can't see my streamer in MC !!

On the router software I see both the Streamer and AV Amp but in MC neither

Any Ideas

Power everything down and back up, including the network.
