Artwork Hangs
« on: February 20, 2017, 03:47:47 am »

I have this problem with both systems I have; one using the the database store in NAS and one with a different computer (apple mac mini) with an external HDD holding all the music.  The databases are basically identical at about 8TB.

It takes a long time; sometimes up to 10 to 15 mins to add artwork; either after getting it from internet, add it from a file or cut and paste.  Any action with artwork is just painfully long.  I have use the build missing thumbnails option and nothing changed.

Any one having this problem.  Is there a bug in the MC or something wrong with my setting.

It's possible that the disk can't be read for a few seconds.

If you're using Videoclock, try turning it off.

Jim, Thanks for your input.

I don't think it is a disk problem.  I basically have 2 separate systems; two different computers with its own external disk.  Same problem.

Videoclock is off.

Any other suggestions?

Something's weird. I've never had adding artwork hang MC at all.  Sometimes it takes 30+ seconds to save it to an entire album's worth of files.  But MC is responsive during that time.

Are your files read only on one or both of these systems?  Do you have the save artwork inside files option checked?  Are you saving artwork beside the file, or in a common artwork directory?

Brian.

I have the artwork saved in the same folder as the file checked.  Both drives can read and write.  It just takes forever to save the artwork but it does save eventually.

I uninstalled MC22 and reinstalled it.  The same problem exists.  Whenever I do tried to updpate the cover art, it takes about 5-10 mins if not more to finish a single entry.  If I try to click anything, the screen grays out.

Is there a bug in the program?  I have 8TB of music.

Thanks

It's not a bug.  Antivirus software could cause it.

Can you be more specific on how (or which) antivirus can cause it.  Any way to correct the problem?

thanks

If you're using Windows Defender, there's a tutorial here: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Taming_Windows_Defender
