Webgizmo setup (access from web)
« on: February 22, 2017, 10:02:41 pm »

Hello again!

Now trying to access the media center via Webgizmo from outside the network, using the IP address.  However, I keep getting a message that the connection was refused.

1)  Webgizmo works within the local network (localhost:51299)

2)  I set up port forwarding, even used the Port Forwarding Network Utility software.  Checked my router, the port forwarding setup is there.  Also used the port checking function of the software in the software, and it seems to be getting to my local machine.

3)  Went to canyouseeme.org and it tells me that my port is open

After this, I get the message about my ip addressed refused to connect.

I turned off the firewall, turned off the anti virus, still no luck.

Not that they're the same, I managed to get MC22 tied to my Amazon Echo account via House Band.  Tried it out, and it works.  So that works, but not the webgizmo feature.

I read all the threads I could find, tried all that was suggested (I think) but no such luck.

Any ideas?  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
jeff

Another thing noted...

If I type "localhost:51299" I get Webgizmo running

If i type my local IP address and :51299 I get the same connection refused message.

I don't know what that means.  I turned my firewall off, same thing.

Fun fun!

Thanks,
jeff

That could mean that your DNS or your routing on your network aren't working correctly.

Are you running any antivirus or any other "security" software on the machine?

I have Windows Defender running, and using Windows Firewall (Windows 10).  However I tried these things with both turned off with no luck

As for the router/DNS, I have a Buffalo Tech router, and it's set to give my computer a fixed IP within the network (192.168.1.130) so that port forwarding should always work.

Settings for my network connection...if this helps

Physical Address: ‎08-62-66-49-45-C0
DHCP Enabled: Yes
IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.130
IPv4 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
IPv4 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 DHCP Server: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
IPv4 WINS Server:

I haven't had issues within my network that I know of.

Hello again,

Good news, was going to replace my Buffalo Tech with a Netgear Nighthawk router.  I had the router in the house but never got around to replacing it.  But since I was having this problem, I figured now was a good time to try.  Replaced it, set the port forwarding on this router, and everything works.

Not sure why the older router wouldn't work, but this one does.

Thought you should know...
